Free Online Educator Training Opportunity!

Spring 2023

Facilitated via Zoom by The Rising Stargirls Team.

In this 2 hour workshop educators will learn how to employ writing, visual art, and theater games in an in-person and virtual classroom environment to teach Astronomy and Astrobiology to middle-school girls from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in the sciences. If you are interested in registering, please contact Maya Silverman at msilver2@uci.edu to receive a Doodle Poll for scheduling. Early-bird registration is available until February 24th, 2023.

The workshop took place Monday – Friday, July 18th-29th, 2022 from 12-2pm PDT (2-4 pm CDT, 3-5 pm EDT).

It’s official – the Fall 2019 Rising Stargirls “Universe: More Than Meets the Eye” workshop has wrapped up online via Zoom! This program is create for middle-school girls (grades 6-8) from groups traditionally underrepresented in the sciences and explores constellation in the night sky, planets in and outside of our solar system, and the unseen mysteries of the universe. We used writing, visual art, and theater games to process what we learnt and discovered.

Many of the girls were so excited to learn about astronomy & astrobiology, bringing their enthusiasm and creative ideas with their open minds and wonderful sense of adventure!


The Rising Stargirls Teaching Handbook and its supplementary material is out! Download it for free for use in your classrooms and informal learning environments anywhere in the world!
